Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Release date:
1988-06-22
Plot:
Private detective Eddie Valiant, still haunted by the death of his brother at the hands of a toon, is hired to investigate the suspected infidelity of Jessica Rabbit, wife of the famous Roger Rabbit. When tycoon Marvin Acme turns up dead, Roger becomes the prime suspect. Eddie soon finds himself entangled in a conspiracy that unveils a dark plot to destroy Toontown and its animated residents.
Name and role:
One of the most magical aspects of Who Framed Roger Rabbit was the historic collaboration between Disney and Warner Bros. According to the agreements, only the stars had to share screen time. In the final sequence where the salvation of Toontown is being celebrated, dozens of animated characters from various studios sing together in joy. Amid the zany, cartoony faces, we can spot Sam Sheepdog, Speedy Gonzales, and Sylvester.
Trivia and other appearances:
The song sung in this segment is none other than Smile, Darn Ya, Smile!, just like in the 1931 Looney Tunes short of the same name.

Plot:
Bugs Bunny runs a nightclub during World War II. When he gets tangled up in a plot involving secret documents, he must choose between helping his old flame, Kitty Ketty, or maintaining his cherished neutrality.
Name and role:
Sam Sheepdog appears as General Pandemonium's assistant, likely to lend some actual authority to that tiny man's presence. It's a bit odd seeing Sam among the villains, given his usual stoic and neutral role, and what does he do in the short? He just stands there... watching.
Trivia and other appearances:
Sam Sheepdog appeared in seven classic Warner Bros. shorts between 1953 and 1963, and also made appearances in one episode of Taz-Mania and one in The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries.
