Granny

1979-05-12 The Bugs Bunny Mother's Day Special
Release date: 1979-05-12
Plot: The special features a selection of classic Looney Tunes shorts centered around the theme of motherhood, tied together by new animated segments in which Bugs Bunny interacts with other characters, including Granny and the drunken stork.
Name and role: In this special, Granny appears selling flowers in a park, where she meets Bugs Bunny. Together, they discuss the importance of mothers, introducing the shorts featured throughout the special. Rarely have we seen Granny drawn this poorly, the design here looks almost like a bootleg version of herself...
Trivia and other appearances: Granny is a well-known character in the Looney Tunes universe, appearing in nearly every Looney-related brand, including the feature films. Though she always plays a maternal role, there's no evidence she's ever had children of her own.

1991-02-14 Bugs Bunny's Overtures to Disaster
Release date: 1991-02-14
Plot: The special features Bugs Bunny conducting a classical music concert, completely unaware of a newspaper headline announcing the escape of an experimental fly that can't be killed. As the show unfolds, various Looney Tunes characters perform musical numbers, while the fly wreaks havoc among the audience and performers alike.
Name and role: Apparently, Sam and Granny have kept seeing each other since Hare Trimmed. Their outfits as they find their seats are color variations from the classic short, but the style remains the same. Sam will attempt to give the fly a taste of lead, but the only thing he ends up perforating is the evening's program. A terrible date.
Trivia and other appearances: As already mentioned, you can witness the misadventures of this odd couple in Hare Trimmed from 1953 if you can handle the cringe.

1995-09-09-00 The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries
Release date: 1995-09-09
Plot: The series follows the adventures of Granny, a globe-trotting detective who solves mysteries around the world, accompanied by Sylvester the cat, Tweety the bird, and Hector the dog. While Granny focuses on her investigations, Sylvester constantly tries to catch Tweety, only to be regularly thwarted by Hector.
Name and role: Granny serves as the main protagonist, even though the title suggests her animal companions take center stage. Each episode revolves around a case that lands in the lap of our very own cartoon Jessica Fletcher, sometimes by chance, and often without her even realizing it at first. Her investigations are surrounded by the slapstick antics of Tweety, Sylvester, and Hector, whose gags run parallel to the mystery at hand.
Trivia and other appearances: The series was dedicated to the memory of Friz Freleng, a legendary Warner Bros. animator and the original creator of Sylvester and Tweety, who passed away shortly before the first season aired.

1995-09-09-03 The Cat Who Knew Too Much
Release date: 1995-09-09
Plot: While in New Orleans for the "Cajun Canary Crooning Competition," Granny signs Tweety up thanks to the charming Louie Z. Anna, who turns out to be the villainous "Mr. Big." After Tweety is kidnapped by Rocky and Mugsy, Sylvester and Hector bumble through a rescue, and Granny exposes Louie's true identity. In the end, Tweety is saved and Granny wins the contest once again.
Name and role: Granny shows up to the contest in a dark green suit. We're used to seeing the Looney Tunes gang in tuxedos for fancy occasions, but Granny out of her iconic old-lady dress? That's a rare sight. And get ready, because this is the very first of many costume changes for her in this series. We'll be seeing dozens.

1995-12-16 It Happened One Night Before Christmas
Release date: 1995-12-16
Plot: Granny arrives in Bedspread Falls to help her forgetful brother, Willie Daily, recover an envelope containing $8,000 that he lost on Christmas Eve. With the help of Tweety, Sylvester, Hector, and the mice Hubie and Bertie, they retrace Willie's steps and uncover that the money was stolen by the banker Freddy T. Totter.
Name and role: A recurring gag in the series is that Granny's car is hyper-accessorized. But in this Christmas episode, they truly go off the rails. The car sprouts a gadget so terrain scoutish that Disney might be tempted to send a politely furious letter about infringement.

1996-02-03 It's a Plaid, Plaid, Plaid, Plaid World
Release date: 1996-02-03
Plot: Granny travels to Scotland to investigate the theft of her family's tartan, the McRory. A clan golf tournament is underway, but the McRorys can't compete without their kilts bearing their ancestral pattern. Between the B&B and the rival clans, the mystery unravels: who stole the fabric?
Name and role: The mad scientist is the manager of the "Scot Free Bed and Breakfast" In secret, he runs a lab where he manages to liquefy all the McRory tartans into a single, hyper-volatile droplet, hidden inside a golf ball.

1996-11-10 Space Jam
Release date: 1996-11-10
Plot: Basketball legend Michael Jordan teams up with Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes to win a wild basketball game against alien villains called the Monstars. The aliens stole NBA players' talents, so it's up to Jordan and the Tunes to slam, jam, and bring the chaos. It's sports meets cartoons in the most 90s crossover ever.
Name and role: No team can play their best without a roaring crowd! And especially not without cheerleaders! So, from the vast (ahem...) pool of Looney female character, who do we pick to lead the cheers? The sultry Penelope Pussycat? The elegant Sylvia the Cat? The ever-nervous Miss Prissy? Of course not. We get Granny and Witch Hazel, and honestly, they're more than enough.
Trivia and other appearances: Granny, ever the Granny, shows up also in media like: Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, Baby Looney Tunes, and of course, running full grandma-force in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

2000-02-29 Tweety's High Flying Adventure
Release date: 2000-02-29
Plot: In the same vein as The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, here comes a charming little direct-to-video movie with Tweety in the spotlight. A globe-trotting adventure, reuniting with the rest of the Looney Tunes gang and staying one tiny step ahead of Sylvester and a whole slew of hungry cats of all shapes and sizes
Name and role: Granny and Rimfire have already crossed paths in the series The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries. Here, their bickering becomes the core of the plot: a bet, a nice and easy little bet. Granny's canary has to go around the world and face off against every feline he encounters.

2003-02-11 Looney Tune Babies: Egg-Straordinary Adventure
Release date: 2003-02-11
Plot: The Looney Babies take on a sweet Easter adventure, all to keep Baby Taz from bursting into tears. With the same quality and childlike tone of the Baby Looney Tunes series, Egg-Straordinary Adventure stands as the only direct-to-video film in this charming little sub-series.
Name and role: Granny, as always in this spin-off, is the voice of reason. The Easter book is hers, the advice is hers, and probably even the secret final egg distribution is hers too. All in the name of keeping her little ones happy.

2006-11-14 Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas
Release date: 2006-11-14
Plot: Daffy Duck is a greedy megastore owner who despises Christmas and mistreats his employees. On Christmas Eve, he's visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, who show him the error of his ways. After witnessing the impact of his actions, Daffy reforms, embraces the holiday spirit, and... Well I think you already heard about this story.
Name and role: Granny is the Spirit of Christmas Past, full of elderly fury. She drags Daffy through his orphanage memories, armed with nothing but nostalgia and rock-hard candy.

2011-11-18 I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat
Release date: 2011-11-18
Plot: The short takes place in Granny's apartment, where Tweety sings his daily routine while Sylvester tries, and spectacularly fails, to catch him. The classic and chaotic gags between the two play out in full force, culminating with Granny stepping in to put an end to Sylvester's mischief.
Name and role: The entire short is brought to life by the iconic voice of Mel Blanc, who once again lends his voice to Sylvester through archival recordings. Granny, meanwhile, sleeps through almost the whole short, waking up only at the very end to wrap things up and accompany the two singing animals on the piano. She's voiced by June Foray, in what would be her final theatrical appearance before her passing in 2017.
Trivia and other appearances: A similar animation experiment using vintage Mel Blanc recordings was Daffy's Rhapsody from 2012.
